Summary: Sam is upset about what Dean says.
Episode: During Sex and Violence
Words: 186

As Sam listened to Dean berate him on his sexual partners, he got more and more irate. How could Dean treat him this way? He knew Dean didn’t trust him. He thought he was hiding things from him, which was true, but he had his reasons.

Sam felt like ending the call but he continued to listen to him until finally he said, “I don’t need your help.” Sam felt like it was a slap in the face. He could feel the rage boiling inside of him as he took his Blackberry and smashed it against the wall. He felt overwhelmed like he was going to lose control.

He needed to calm down so he changed his clothes and decided he would take a walk.

He just wanted clear his head; to erase everything Dean had said to him.

As he closed the motel door, his thoughts went back to what Dean said. So what, if he had sex with Cara? It didn’t mean he was under the influence of the siren. It was like every decision he made; Dean chastised him.

Episode: During Season 5
Words: 226

When Dean told him that he didn’t trust him, he was at a loss for words. Hearing those words verbally did hurt him but at the same time, he was glad he knew where he stood with Dean. He knew it would take time to build back the relationship they had before in which they had each other back’s but Sam was willing to do everything in his power to have Dean in his corner again.

Deserting Dean when he needed him the most wasn’t what Sam had in mind when he began working with Ruby. Sam just wanted to make some headway with stopping the apocalypse and getting rid of Lilith. Somehow, it got completely out of control and when he wasn’t looking; his relationship with his brother began to crumble right before his eyes. They weren’t seeing eye to eye on things and Sam was always afraid he was going to blurt out what he was doing with Ruby, so he distanced himself from Dean, which was his biggest mistake.

Sam had his doubts that their relationship would be the same as before but then again, he didn’t want it to be. He wanted to be seen as an equal to Dean not just his little brother anymore. He knew it would take time for Dean to change his mindset but anything is possible.

Episode: During Season 3
Words: 612

For the past few weeks, Sam hadn’t stopped thinking about Tamara. He couldn’t figure out why it was happening but he knew when it started.

About 6 weeks ago, Sam and Dean were at a shopping mall. Both of them weren’t into shopping only when it was needed. In this case, it was. It had been at least a year since they had bought any new clothes and their stuff was starting to look worn out.

Sam was fooling around on his laptop that particular Sunday afternoon because he was bored. He was playing Sudoku while Dean watched some TV. They had been in Virginia for the past few days but nothing supernatural had been occurring.

Sam shut the lid of his laptop shut.

“Dean, I think it’s time!”

“Time for what?” he asked, sounding a little bit annoyed.

“Time to get some new clothes, dude,” Sam announced.

“Oh that,” he replied.

“Yeah. Well, since we aren’t doing anything, how about we head to the shopping mall. There is one not too far from here.”

Dean rolled his eyes.

“Sam, you know I hate shopping. Can’t you go alone?”

Sam could sense Dean was in one of his moods.

“Well, I would be I wanted some company. There is one advantage to going though.”

“What?”

“Women!” Sam smiled. He knew that would capture his attention.

Dean brightened at that thought.

“Okay. Let’s go!”

Dean was whistling to the song playing on the radio while Sam just listened. He could see the parking lot in the distance.

When they finally parked, they both jumped out of the car.

Sam heard Dean stomach rumble and he grinned.

“Maybe, we should head for the food court first.”

Dean nodded. “Lead the way.”

On the way there, he saw a woman that resembled Tamara because of the haircut, style of dress, etc. She was window shopping, looking at some dresses. All of sudden, she spun around and it wasn’t her. Sam was disappointed somewhat. His instincts told him something was going with her but he wasn’t sure what. He made a mental note to himself to phone her when they got back from the mall.

Sam and Dean spent the next few hours shopping and having a good time at the mall. Sam peered through the mall window’s and saw it was getting dark.

“Maybe, we should head back to the motel.”

“Right,” Dean agreed.

Sam felt his phone vibrating as Dean walked in front of him. He stopped to listen to the voicemail.

“Sam! I know it has been a few months since we last spoken but I didn’t know who else to turn to. Could you phone me back right away?” Sam heard how frantic she sounded and he knew he was right about something going on.

Sam ran to catch up with Dean.

“Who phoned?” Dean asked.

“Tamara.”

“Tamara?! Oh,Tamara. I remember her.” Dean said smiling.

“She’s a very pretty and feisty woman. The type of chick I would have hit on if she wasn’t married.”

Sam shook his head.

“I know Dean.”

“It seems you two have gotten close,” Dean smirked.

“It’s not what you think.”

“Oh really? Then why is she calling all of a sudden, huh?”

“Come on, Dean. Maybe, she just needs a friend.”

“Or maybe she wants more than that from you. If that’s the case, I say, go get Sammy!!” Dean punched his arm.

Sam rolled his eyes as put the bags on the back seat.

“Why can’t women and men just be friends? It doesn’t have to be just about sex.”

Dean leaned against the driver’s door.

“For some, I think you’re right. But others, no.”

Episode: During the End
Words: 155

If being hit in the head wasn’t enough, waking up to see your exact likeness would freak anyone out. Dean thought he was seeing doubles because he still couldn’t believe he saw himself in front of him. It was a shock at first but after it sunk in, he started to get used to it.

His future self was a piece of work. It was like over the past five years, all of the humanity, compassionate was ripped out of him, and what was left was nothingness. This future Dean was nothing like him; shooting people just because he suspected he had the Croataon virus was anything he would have done. He had to wonder since Sam had given in to Lucifer; this Dean just didn’t care anymore. As if there wasn’t anything to live for.

At least, his future self still had great taste in women. He had to give him credit for that.

Words: 149

It had become routine for Sam and Dean to not talk about their feelings. Well, that is not quite correct. Sam tried to open up to Dean but Dean wouldn’t reciprocate. Dean’s usual method was to use humor or to change the subject. However, if anybody was to really analyze it, Sam was the one who didn’t really talk about his feelings.

Sam was using reverse psychology on Dean, always suggesting that Dean reveal what he felt, which sometimes he did but Sam? Sam was the listening board. There were moments when Sam would show his true emotions like when he was locked in the panic room at Bobby’s but those times were far and few between.

At times, talking to Dean was like talking to a brick wall. He was one stubborn man, stuck in his ways but then again the same could be said about Sam.

Words: 319

DR. J. ELLICOTT: Look, if you’re a local history buff, then you know all about the Roosevelt riot.

SAM: The riot? No, I know, I was just curious—

DR. J. ELLICOTT: Sam. Let’s cut the bull, shall we? You’re avoiding the subject.

SAM: What subject?

DR. J. ELLICOTT: You. Now, I’ll make you a deal. I’ll tell you all about the Roosevelt riot if you tell me something honest about yourself. Like, uh…this brother you’re road-tripping with –- how do you feel about him? [SAM raises his eyebrows.]

Sam was caught offguard by his question.

SAM: Feel about him?

Dr. Ellicott: Yes.

SAM: Well, for starters, his name is Dean and he’s 4 years older than me.

Dr. Ellicott nodded his head.

Dr. Ellicott: Go on.

Sam didn’t really like how the doctor had turned the tables on him.

SAM: I…I….love him but…. Sam’s voice drifted off.

Dr. Ellicott: But what. He was looking for Sam to continue.

SAM: It’s complicated, you know?

Dr. Ellicott: I guess you’re saying your relationship isn’t the easiest.

SAM: It’s not. I usually have to follow everything Dean does. He doesn’t gave me much of a choice.

Dr. Ellicott: He does let you take part in the decision-making?

SAM: Yes but the final word is usually his.

SAM: He can be overbearing at times and obnoxious but I’ve gotten used to it. Some of the stuff he says can be a little bit off-colour.

Dr. Ellicott: Hmmm. I see.

Sam fiddled with his hands as the doctor stared at him.

Dr. Ellicott: What kind of business are both you of in?

Sam: Uhm. Hunting.

Dr. Ellicott: Hunting what?

Sam: Things.

Dr. Ellicott: Okay. I can see that you don’t want to talk about it. I can sense that your brother as has been a father figure for you.

Sam: Well, that is true. He has practically taken care of me since I was little.

Dr. Ellicott: So what about your father?

Sam: Our father?

Dr. Ellicott: Yes. What was he doing during that time?

Sam: He was always taking business trips so he wasn’t home much.

Dr. Ellicott: So, I guess your brother was responsible for you.

Sam: Yes.

Dr. Ellicott smiled at Sam.

Dr. Ellicott: It’s alright Sam. I’m not going to continue interrogating you about your brother. I can tell how uncomfortable it makes you feel.

Sam let out a big breath.

Dr. Ellicott: I’ll answer your question now.

Words: 363

Sam thought when he left Lawrence, Kansas to go to Stanford; everything would be different. He would start a new life in a new state with no family, nothing to tie him to the past.

One of his wishes at that time was to do well in school. He never expected he would meet Jess and fall in love. It made everything in life so much better. His dreams had changed and now they included Jessica. Especially, once he became a lawyer he had hoped he would become a lawyer and eventually, marry her and have a normal life.

During the Stanford era, as Dean called it, he wished Sammy had never left home. His heart ached everyday to hear Sam’s voice. He wanted to know what was going on with Sam, how was doing in school among other things. He missed the times when Sammy and him would hang out and joke around. However, deep down, Dean wished he was as strong as Sam to leave his family behind. Dean felt bogged down by familial obligations to Sam and his father that Sam never could understand.

As for Jessica, meeting Sam was one of the best things to happen to her. He brought so much to her life. She knew Sam wasn’t telling her the whole truth about his life but she was fine with it. She accepted him as he was. She never regretted getting involved with him even when that Yellow-eyed man told her she should have never gotten to know him because it would be the end of her life. In her last moments, she wished Sam could have saved her from this evil presence but it would never happen.

Bela Talbot was a thorn in the Winchesters’ side; always thwarting their attempts to solve their case by stealing or withholding evidence and just being a pain in their ass to them. Nevertheless, when it came down to the end, when her time was up, she reached out to them. As she watched the clock slowly reach midnight, she had wished she had been more truthful about what was going on in her life and now it was too late.

Dean had to wonder if he could ever really accept Sam for what he did or for his demon blood. He loved Sam and would do anything for him but even he had his limit. He had learned that Sam had demon blood running through his veins, which rather made him less human, he supposed but he was still his brother no matter what.

He had grown to acknowledge that and move on but when Sam started using his demon powers to get rid of demons out of human hosts and saw that witch teaching him, he had to confront Sam about his actions. Dean couldn’t comprehend why Sam would want to do this in the first place even though Sam had explained he was saving lives. However, Dean had to wonder saving lives but at what cost to him? One thing was for certain; he knew his little brother was heading down a slippery slope because once he got accustomed to that he would want to move to something more effective or more powerful. Things usually worked that way.

Dean could never accept Sam being with Ruby and that was one of many things that hurt him the most.

Instead, home was being a crumby motel room, eating diner food, going from town to town every few weeks. He knew this lifestyle wasn’t for everyone but it was their life and on some days, he wouldn’t change it for the world.

“Dean,” Sam said one day while he was watching CNN.

“What is it, Sam?” Dean asked.

Sam paused, not knowing how to bring up the topic. He took a deep breath and continued.

“Do you want to know why I started drinking demon blood?”

Dean sat up straight when he heard the words.

“I bet you’re going to say to get rid of demons.”

Sam said, “True. But it was more than that.”

“When I was drinking the blood, it was exhilarating. I could feel the blood coursing through my veins and made me very powerful.”

Dean frowned for a bit.

“You mean it made you feel strong; like you could move mountains.”

“Yes, like I could do anything.”

Dean sat down beside Sam. “I know Sammy but it doesn’t make it right.” Sam didn’t hear any disappointment in his voice.

“I know but I can’t help myself. That’s why I’m addicted to the blood.”

Sam walked towards him and Dean asked with an eyebrow cocked, “Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” Sam mumbled.

He opened the passenger side door and slid into his seat. Dean could tell this was going to be a long ride. He could sense Sam was in one of his depressed moods and was withdrawn.

Dean climbed in on the driver’s side and didn’t start the car right away.

Sam glanced at him as Dean asked again, “What really happened Sam?”

Sam looked at him. “Nothing, Dean.” He said through gritted teeth.

Dean rolled his eyes. He swore to himself no chick flick moments but this was going to be an exception.

“Sam, what did the Trickster really do to you?”

Sam whipped his head back towards the window.

“I don’t want to talk about it, okay!”

Sam practically growled out his response. Dean knew not to push him any further.

“Alright.”

Dean pushed the key into the ignition and drove off.

Sam didn’t want to keep reliving seeing Dean die repeatedly. Each time, Dean died it was as if he was losing a piece of his heart. That is why he didn’t want to talk about it. All Sam wanted to do was forget about occurred and move on if he could.

He thought by now it would should some indication of where God would be but maybe he was hoping for too much.

He knew Raphael was lying about God being dead. He was certain that God was alive but hiding somewhere. He sighed and asked aloud, “God, please show me a sign of what to do next.” The air was still around him but nothing occurred.

He put back Dean’s amulet back in his pocket, so he wouldn’t lose it. Eventually, he would have to give back to him because Dean felt naked without it. Ever since Issac had been killed by those demons, Tamara couldn’t stop reliving the continuous nightmare that plagued her since he died. Each time she closed her eyes to sleep, she saw Issac drinking that putrid Draino and convulsing on the floor with blood draining out of his mouth.

She watched helplessly as she saw his life be taken away from him and there was nothing she could do nothing about it. If it wasn’t for Sam dragging her into the car, she was certain she would have died with him right there that night.

Even after killing that demon in the house, her thirst for revenge still wasn’t quenched. Sam had reached out to her that night when everyone else had fallen asleep, after the harrowing experience in which they had to fight the seven deadly sins.

Tamara was sitting on the front porch, feeling the breeze brush her against her skin as she heard the front door squeak open.

Sam sat down beside her and stared into the darkness.

“Tamara?” He said. “It’s not your fault.”

She closed her eyes and sighed.

“Yes, it is.” She responded. “Issac and I should have been prepared more. We were stupid to walk in there without one weapon on us. I don’t know what we were thinking.”

“You know. Usually, we have a plan but this time, for some insane reason we didn’t. We just decided to go in there, just to check things out. Huge mistake.”

She could feel the tears starting to cloud her vision.

“But you know what’s worse, Sam? I sat there and let him die.”

Sam put a hand on her shoulder. “There was nothing you could. You were outnumbered. Most likely, if you had interfered…”

She cut off, “I would have been killed. I know and at least, I could be with him instead of….”

“Just existing,” Sam finished. “I have been there, Tamara. I completely know how you feel.”

“How?” She questioned him as she glanced at him.

Sam picked at something on his jacket absentmindedly as he answered, “Because I saw premonitions of my girlfriend’s death and I did nothing to prevent it.”

She could hear the emotion in his Sam’s face as she grabbed his hand.

“I’m so sorry.”

Sam gulped. “Everyday, I regret not being honest with her. So, I know how you feel.”

They sat in silence lost in their own thoughts.

“Here,” he said, pressing a paper in her hands.

“What is this?”

“My cell number. Anytime you want to talk, day or night, call me.”

He rested his hand on her shoulder as he got up.

“I’m going to catch a nap. Are you going to okay?” he asked.

“Yeah and thanks,” she said softly.

“For what?”

“Listening.” He saw a small smile on her lips.

“Anytime.”

As Sam walked away from Dean, he could feel Dean’s eyes on his back as he approached the Impala. He was going to miss sitting in the passenger’s seat, listening to Dean’s cassette tapes of Led Zeppelin but he knew it was for the best. He needed a break from Dean but actually, he wanted break from the whole hunting gig.

He came too close to giving into his desire for blood and it was time to figure out how to deal with it. Sam wanted to blame someone for doing this to him but it was all his fault. He accepted the responsibility for his actions. Now, he had to face the consequences. Being away from Dean would be good because he knew in his heart Dean still didn’t trust him. He was wary about him at times and it would take awhile for them to get back the relationship they had before.

Sam sighed as he ran his fingers along the Impala and finally reached into to grab his bag. He didn’t want to look back at his brother because seeing his eyes; he would take everything that he said back and plead to stay with him. However, Sam was stronger. He straightened his back and headed over to the truck. He asked for a lift and the driver said, “Where to?”

“Anywhere,” Sam smiled as he opened the passenger door and sat down. He threw his belongings on the back seat as the guy drove off. Sam stared through the rear-view mirror as he saw Dean lean against the Impala, watching him.

Sometimes, Dean had to wonder why he took all the crap Sam was dishing out too him these days. He knew Sam was getting in deeper and deeper but Sam didn’t want his help. Sam felt he was weak or was missing something since he came back from the pit but still Dean wanted to Sam to trust him as he used to.

“That damn Ruby,” he cursed as he drove to the diner. “Why in the hell did Sam let that demon come between them?” he thought as he shut off the engine. He sat in the car and reminisced about all the good and bad times he and Sammy had. Dean knew Sam wanted to be independent, to be seen as a leader but he would always see Sam as his little brother. The kid he has been protecting since he was 4 years old.

However, since he came back from hell, Sam was holding back information from him. Dean tried to coax out of him but it was like talking to a brick wall. He never wants to let him in or when he starts to, he clams up and says, “Forget about it.” Dean banged his hands against the steering wheel. Sam was slipping from him bit by bit each day and he couldn’t do anything to stop it. Instead, he was aligning with Ruby, thinking she knew what was best or if it wasn’t that, maybe he was using her to help him stop the apocalypse.

Dean voted for the latter because Sam was smarter than that. He knew better to be taken in by a demon. No demon could be trusted even if they saved your life. They always had an ulterior motive. He believed this wholeheartedly and he tried to drill that into Sam’s brain at every opportunity but to no avail, it seemed.

It all started with the small things. Like Sam, going away during the night when he thought Dean was asleep. During those times, Dean would pretend to sleep and watch what Sam was doing.

When Sam had his back turned to him, Dean could hear him whispering to someone on his cell. Dean had his suspicions that he was talking to that demon Ruby. Dean just rolled his eyes when he thought about her. She had Sam so wrapped around her finger; he couldn’t see the forest from the trees.

He knew Sam felt connected to her because she saved him at a low point of his life when he was vulnerable and desperate.

“But I’m back,” Dean thought. “Shouldn’t that be enough?”

Apparently it wasn’t. Dean watched as he saw his little brother go further into the darkness, letting this demon drag him deeper down into hell.

The more Sam interacted with her, the more withdrawn he became with Dean. He didn’t tell Dean anything more, just superficial things, which didn’t really matter. Dean knew Sam felt he couldn’t trust him with his real feelings.

Dean hardly let him drive the Impala but there were certain times when he did, like when he was tired.

After ganking the vampire, Sam took a good look at his brother. Dean was worn out. He had dark circles under his eyes and he appeared to be exhausted.

“Sammy, let’s go!” Dean said gruffly, bending down to pack up their supplies. Sam bent down to help him but Dean said, “No. I’m alright.” He plastered a smile on his lips but it didn’t reach his eyes. He could tell something was wrong but Dean wasn’t going to speak to him about it.

Sam walked over to the Impala and leaned against it as he heard Dean slam down the trunk. Dean strolled over to him and pushed the keys in his hands.

“Can I?” Sam asked.

“I need a break. I’m gonna catch a nap.”

He opened the passenger side door and slid inside. Sam walked over to the driver’s door and climbed in. He began to adjust the seat and the mirrors as Dean watched him silently. He pushed the key in the ignition and the Impala roared to life.

Dean leaned his head on the headrest and closed his eyes. Sam could see the stress of making the deal was doing to him. Sam felt a rush of anger start to surge through him as he remembered why his brother did this.

He pushed his foot to the gas pedal as his rage began to increase. Dean was fast asleep now because he could hear him snoring softly. Sam knew he had to calm down but he wanted to take out his anger at something.

Sam knew this whole deal thing wasn’t going to end well and it depressed him. He felt like their lives were being crushed into nothing and he could not do anything to avoid the inevitable.

That is why it pained him so much.

Summary: Dean comes to grips with the future.
Words: 158

Dean would sometimes sneak glances at Sam when he wasn’t looking. It had been 2 days since he had been back from the future and he was still reeling from what happened.

Dean was certain that Zachariah had changed the future somewhat but still he felt unsettled being with Sam. He couldn’t erase from his mind the way, Lucifer had broke his future self’s neck so easily without any remorse.

He hated the way Lucifer fit so way into Sam’s skin, manipulating his brother’s mannerisms to suit his purposes. Even now, he would flinch when Sam rested his hand on his shoulder because it reminded him of Lucifer. He could see the hurt in his little brother’s eyes as he moved away from him.

He knew he had to open up to Sam soon and reveal what he discovered about the future. However, he would edit certain parts, not telling him about the conversation between him and Lucifer.
