I can't believe Michael Jackson died!!
[info]eveluvden
I'm still in shocked that Michael Jackson died. This is so surreal. I have been watching CNN and other news channels.

I remember listening to Michael when I was like 8 or 9. I love his music a lot. May he rest in peace. :(

I'm watching BET and watching some videos of Michael. I'm sorry that I never got the opportunity to see him in concert.

My plan to deal with Supernatural hiatus
[info]eveluvden
I have to admit that watching Supernatural has been a blast the past few months. Now, that the show is on hiatus, it feels like I'm going through withdrawal.

Well, my plan is to finish watching Season 1 of Supernatural and go all the way through to season 4. Plus, catch up on all my fanfics that I have been reading. Plus, watch convention videos, practice making icons and animations, among other things. I hope this will keep me occupied enough for the next few months.

Feeling inspired because of Supernatural
[info]eveluvden
I just created a new livejournal called Spn_musings which I'm going to post my fanfics, icons, etc. I just find Supernatural such an awesome show that I want to try to make my own icons.

I finally have the time to work on this lj because I have finished all my exams!!! I'm so happy. :) Now, I just have to prepare for my interview for next week.

As for my new lj, I'm going to be working on it the next few days, putting a header, profile, etc. Hopefully, by next week, I'll can show you how it looks.

I just got Gimp, so I'll be going to use it to make icons. I'm currently reviewing the user manual to see how to use it.

A little update about my goal to become a dietitian, etc.
[info]eveluvden
If you read my mission101 goals, several of them were related to applying to the dietetic internship and Masters' programs which I did.

The sad thing is no one called me for an interview for the dietetic internship programs and as for the Master's program, I know I didn't get into one for sure. As for the University of Toronto MSc in Nutrition, I haven't heard anything from them yet but I am not getting my hopes up.

I just really annoyed about spending all this time and money on courses and application fees and I'm not getting anything out of it. I think I won't be applying for anything related to nutrition in the near future. I need to reevaluate what I can do with my nutrition degree but I don't have time to focus on that now.

But for some good news, it looks like I will be getting an interview for the Medical Laboratory Technology program. :) I just have to hand in my statement of intent by this Friday and read the pre-admission info which I will do later today. I also applied for the Radiological Technology program at the University of Toronto and handed in the personal profile I wrote this past Monday. Now, I just have to wait and see what they say.

So, I don't feel too bad about my career prospects at the moment. I just hope and pray everything works out for me this year. I can't bear to be in this constant limbo.

Supernatural episode 4.17 promos
[info]eveluvden
Has everyone since the promos for this week's episode? If not, here it is:

I have watched the promos several times and I know this is going to be such a cool episode. I really like what they did with Dean's hair and the clothes both guys are wearing. My favorite part of the promo is when I get to see Sam's ass. I can't stop staring at it!

It sucks that I have to wait until Friday or Saturday to watch the episode because I have physics on Thursdays from 6 pm to 9 pm. :(

Coping with the Supernatural hiatus

I just saw the promo last night for episode 4:15 and I can't wait for the show to come back!

It looks so damn good!! Dean torturing souls?!  I am just in awe.  Why can't it be March 12 already.

Update to 101 Things in 1001 days
[info]eveluvden
I already completed all these things, which is great.  I'm just waiting to see if I get any interviews.  I'll also be adding a few things to my list tonight. :)

1.  Apply for grad school.
2.  Apply for dietetic internships.
3.  Pick up transcripts.
4.  Revise resume for internship.
5.  Write letters of intent and dietetic internship letters

101 Things in 1001 days from January 5, 2009 to October 3, 2011
[info]eveluvden
Well, I was looking over my New Year's resolutions from last year and I didn't accomplish everything that I wanted to do. I did make some progress with the career situation because I right now I'm going to school and taking a calculus, physics and clinical nutrition course which I'll be starting next week.

I saw on the LJ spotlight a community called mission101_2009 which I joined. The whole idea is to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

So I'll be constantly updating when I meet one of my goals and adding to my list as I think about what else to add.

Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons
[info]eveluvden
This past Tuesday, I went to see the Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons. I really enjoyed it immensely. I loved see Brad's character progress from being born an old man back to a baby. Cate Blanchett was so beautiful in it. Just a wonderful movie overall. Most likely, I'll buy the movie when it comes out on DVD.

The movies I'm looking forward to seeing this year are some I wanted to see from last year but just didn't get the chance:

1. The Dark Knight
2. Wall-E
3. Kung-Fu Panda
4. Tropic Thunder

I'm afraid to see Friday the 13th and My Blood Valentine even though I am quite fond of Jared and Jensen but horror movies have never been my thing.

The Olympics
[info]eveluvden
I'm an avid fan of the Olympics and I was upset that Canada wasn't winning any medals. But we have four now and I pray that we get some more. :)

The 100m Men's Final in Track and Field was wonderful. I'm glad and elated that Jamaica finally won a gold medal and Bolt was the one to do it.

Phelps is an extraordinary swimmer and a great inspiration to all in terms of setting your goals and reaching them.

Follow-up to New Year's Resolutions
[info]eveluvden
Well, this is a mini followup to my New Year's Resolutions.

As for the client care representative that I had, I lost the job about two weeks ago. It wasn't the right fit for me because it involved a lot of selling of products which I wasn't fond of. Currently, looking for another job.

As for the career, I changed my mind again. After really thinking about my options and considering all the work I put into my nutrition degree, I finally decided to apply for the dietetic internship and Masters degree in Nutrition and see what I happens. Plus, in order to apply for the internship, I will need to upgrade two nutrition courses.

I also have a backup plan of applying for Registered Respiratory Therapist and Registered Technologist in Radiological Technology if it dietetic option doesn't work out. The only thing that is bothering me is that I will have to do a Calculus and Physics courses which I haven't applied for yet. I tend to procrastinate a lot which is something I am trying to break.

As for the rest I was working on, it still is a work in progress

New Year's Resolutions
[info]eveluvden
Usually, I make New Year's resolutions and I don't keep them but this is a new year, and I am making a promise to myself to actually commit to it.

1. Stay in shape.

I actually had an one year gym membership but I cancelled it this past Friday because I was barely going. Now, I am thinking about buying a treadmill.

2. Get a career.

I am currently working as a client care representative at a wireless company. I am hoping to move up in the company.

3. Go back to school.

I have been very indecisive on whether I should do accounting and become a certified management accountant or get my Masters in Nutrition and become a registered dietitian. I have finally made up my mind and I am going to do the accounting. It was an area that interested me for several years. I have two courses I still have to do which are macroeconomics and introductory management accounting. Afterwards, I would do the accelerated program which takes 8 months. The last step would be a two year program in which you get on the job experience and go to school part-time.

4. Reconnect with my old hobbies

I need to catch up with my reading. I have so many books that I need to finish reading. I was starting to read Twilight by Stephanie Meyer and I haven't finished it yet. I'm very excited to see the movie when it comes out.

5. Go out more and enjoy myself

I used to like attending museums and art galleries. I am going to try new things like attending a symphony or ballet.

What Kind of Day are You?

You Are Sunrise

You enjoy living a slow, fulfilling life. You enjoy living every moment, no matter how ordinary.
You are a person of reflection and meditation. You start and end every day by looking inward.
Caring and giving, you enjoy making people happy. You're often cooking for friends or buying them gifts.
All in all, you know how to love life for what it is - not for how it should be.

You Are 40% Extrovert, 60% Introvert

You're a bit outgoing, a bit reserved
Like most people, you enjoy being social
But you also value the time you have alone
You have struck a good balance!

50 Book Challenge
[info]eveluvden
I have decided to try the 50 book challenge. I will be chronicling my experiences of seeing if I can read 50 books in a year. I think it is possible plus it would get me off the computer.

My first book I want to read this year is Reflex, the sequel to Jumper. I almost half way through already and I want to finish it. I really enjoyed Jumper and even though Steven Gould's style of writing is different, i.e. he jumps back and forth between Davy and Millie, the whole plot is intriguing. I can picture Hayden playing Davy as I read this book.

I have bought several books from Chapters which are just lying on my desk and I would like to get through those two before starting anything new unless I read something I took on interlibrary loan.

By the way, I absolutely love Charon's new icons for Factory Girl. It has me all revved up to see this cool movie.
